Core stability is a fundamental prerequisite for improving both performance and the movements we perform daily and has become common practice in recent years to put it at the heart of many workouts. Using specific equipment and machinery allows you to best apply the most effective training methods and in this article, we will discover what stability is and what benefits it can bring if properly trained; we will also discover the benefits of group training and engaging training methods with Omnia, one of the best pieces of Technogym equipment for
functional training.
What is stability?
Stability is the ability to maintain a certain position of the body or parts of it in space. This ability is necessary both in static conditions, for example simply standing up, and in conditions of movement, such as squatting. To be stable it is necessary to overcome forces, which can be represented by gravity or external loads, such as weights, elastics or small tools.
Two basic types of stability must be considered:
- joint stability: both in static and in motion, more muscles must always work in synergy to ensure joint stability and proper load management.
- stability of the body in general. The stability of all the various body segments contributes to the overall stability of the 'body system' and is an essential prerequisite for maintaining balance.
Do not forget the proprioception that is instead the ability to perceive and recognize the position of your body in space and the state of contraction of their muscles without the support of sight. It is considered the sixth sense because it is regulated by a specific part of the brain. Proprioception is of fundamental importance in the complex mechanism of controlling movement, joint stability and maintaining balance.o di controllo del movimento, della stabilità articolare e del mantenimento dell’equilibrio.
Training stability through functional training
To achieve your goals of greater stability, muscle strength, balance, and flexibility in all planes of movement, effective functional training can be the right means to achieve the desired results. Based on these principles, it is important to include multi-joint and multi-planar exercises in your routine, which require the intervention of muscles that work in synergy to stabilize the joints. Doing this ensures that the nervous system is properly activated and that more body districts are involved and activated with the right timing.
An optimal functional program always requires the substantial intervention of the stabilizing muscles, both those of the main joints (upper and lower limbs) and those of the central or 'core'. Recently, training systems have been designed in which the lower or upper limbs are stressed most effectively. In this context, the core, which is the point of connection between the lower and upper limbs, should be considered as a functional unit, consisting of deep abdominal muscles (transverse abdomen) and superficial muscles (rectum abdominal, internal and external obliques).
But how do we train the stability of the body? With what tool can we activate the totality of the core muscles? We discover the
benefits of Omnia, the function for all, the equipment that allows an infinite number of configurations thanks to the numerous accessories and the rich library of training programs.
Group training and stability training
Studies confirm that sharing goals in group training increase user motivation and that an engaging training experience allows you to train with conviction and at a higher intensity. Group training also offers a greater variety than individual cardio and strength training; it is essential to have an environment with equipment that puts people at ease and stimulates their participation; in the area of functional training,
Omnia is the ideal solution for group circuit training.
Through a unique methodology, it allows for obtaining numerous physiological benefits, such as a conspicuous metabolic activation, a high caloric expenditure and a significant improvement in the quality of movement. Even more interesting is the possibility for people to practice a group activity, in which common training experience is shared throughout the working class.
For even more complete group training, the model
OMNIA⁸ guarantees the widest appeal for users of any level and ability and can be used with or without trainer supervision.
Functional training with Omnia can be customized with maximum effectiveness to meet every type of need, attracting even those who are not members of the club but are looking for fun training proposals. But how do you train with Omnia? What is the philosophy behind this innovative tool?
Move, Train, Play and the Omnia training approach
Move, Train, Play is the functional training methodology with Omnia promoted by
Technogym Education, the international school for personal trainers and technical staff in the wellness sector. Even if those who train have similar goals (e.g. improving strength or simply toning up muscles), everyone has their reasons for wanting to achieve the goal.
Move, Train, Play is a method designed to involve those who train with Technogym products and enable them to use Technogym equipment such as OMNIA in an engaging way that matches their personality, whatever the reason for their training in the gym.
